Raised in Yuirwood, Mercedes became accustomed to the magical forest's fey and the native Faêrunian extraplanars, especially aasimar and star elves, which seems quite obvious, as she was the daughter of such parents. Her mother, Eveliana, a full-fledged aasimar descending from half-celestials, descending from Justice Archons, was a strict and sincere person, famous for her beauty and sense of justice. Though the mostly forested realm of the star elves, Yuirwood also hosts a small series of mostly unnamed thorps. In one of them, Eveliana still holds a barely notable church of Torm, whose servants operated autonomously with Aglarondian cities. She had focused much of her efforts for the continued protection of the ancient land, though what had originally drawn her there, and what makes her revere it so, she never revealed. She married a star elf, Mier Elias Berenna, one of the increasing amount of refugees from the Sildëyuir, whose broken heart for his lost home first roused her pity and protective nature, and whose good heart and great intellect eventually led to their love.

They only had one child, Mercedes, who first began her clerical training under her mother and was later sent to Velprintalar to further study religion and the planes. She excelled in almost all sorts of studies, impressing her teachers time and again. While continuing her studies, she started slowly discovering a strange magic in her blood, an unnerving force which, as it swelled, began making her more impulsive, sometimes even aggressive. And as it manifested in the form of an infernal bolt (which caused the death of a house cat,) she took a leave of absence to travel back to Yuirwood and find out about its origins. Though reclutant to discuss it, her parents eventually told that her Mier had a lineage of demon blood from eons ago. They explained that occasionally, even a faraway infernal lineage could manifest naturally in a child. At the discovery of their child having such tendencies, they sent her for clerical training back in Velprintalar. However, she could no longer attest to the rigid rule of the temple of Torm.

Wandering about the metropolitan area, she found herself drawn to chance, excitement and faraway adventures in a manner which did not fit in her assumed future image. During those times, she gained control over her powers, though finally giving in to her whimsical and unpredictable character. However, she in no way had lost her insatiable appetite for knowledge. And by luck, if nothing else, she managed to - in an ex temporé card game - win herself a place in the church of Tymora. She immediately fit in the unorganized but family-like atmosphere, diving for clerical studies in the city's libraries and worship in the church, which was the basement of the High Priest's home one day and a floating gambling den the next. And as she continued her studies, she became more and more interested in her lineage and taking her chances travelling the world. And eventually, bidding good-byes to her higher-ups and her parents (who obviously detested her plan) she left to see the world with little but a lucky coin in her pocket.

In her travels she found the beauty of the world, the excitement of the road, and the hazards that lay waiting for her. Though not carefully planned, she trained not only her clerical duties but also her strange arcane powers, finding herself to be gifted at both. Her adventures became innumerable and often a centre of attention in bars and taverns. And as luck would have it, she eventually wound up in a strange adventuring party from the Sword Coast, seeking to uncover the mysteries of the Chultan jungle.

Mercedes has a large heart and a hunger for stories. During her travels, she has become at peace with her unpredictable and often foolhardy personality, her curiosity and her even excessive open-mindedness, and it shows. She has complete confidence in herself and her deity, her power and her weaknesses. Growing up to be nearly as beautiful as her mother, the life of excitement and adventure is slowly beginning to manifest itself in her physical features; her formerly brown hair has already turned entirely silvery, seeming like an extension of her exceptionally pale, milky skin, small wrinkles from her often-heard laughter have formed in the corner of her eyes. Her extremely light blue eyes are constantly observing, to the extent that she fails to see the trees from the forest, which adds to her natural clumsiness. Having seen her days of youth, she has gathered a wisdom far beyond that of regular mortal wisemen. It generates a calm and determined aura around her.
